LANGUAGE AND COGNITION

Play skills are a lens through which a child's cognitive development can be assessed. Watch your child play and you can learn all about their ideas! If a child is showing delays in cognition, it is likely he/she is lagging behind in understanding and/or expressing speech-language too- because language is a function of cognition. There is a certain synchrony to this dance across developmental domains, which is quiet fascinating. We just have to learn to observe!
